Electromagnetic Support Operations Safeguard Airpower.

Elettronica is proud to exhibit its electronic warfare capabilities at this years’ Farnborough International Airshow.

Farnborough, 18 July 2022

NATO and allied nations face renewed and reinvigorated airpower threats. Advanced air defence systems and state-of-the-art combat aircraft could challenge their mastery of the skies in future conflicts. For over 70 years, Elettronica has been at the forefront of Electromagnetic Support Operations (EMSO). EMSO addresses these threats through the development and application of advanced electronic warfare capabilities.
Electronic Warfare is at the core of Elettronica’s expertise in the airpower domain. We are showcasing several capabilities at this years’ event. Elettronica is proud to be a major partner in the Integrated Self-Defence Systems (ISDSs) equipping the Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft and NH-90 medium-lift helicopter. Our work on both these platforms has provided a solid foundation from which to develop tomorrow’s ISDSs. To this end, we are heavily involved in developing the ISDS for the forthcoming pan-European Tempest combat aircraft.
Elettronica is a Solution Provider in the EMSO domain, covering the whole operational requirement in Air, Naval, Ground, Space and Cyber domains. In particular, the Company provides stand-alone and integrated products which protect all sizes and types of military aircraft. The most Elettronica advanced technological and operative solutions for detection are the ELT162 fully digital radar warning receiver (RWR), the new generation Electronic Support Measures (ESM) ALR733 family. Once threats are detected, they can be jammed with Elettronica advanced Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) jammer family.
Detection and jamming capabilities are combined in Elettronica’s Virgilius integrated system. Virgilius can be installed internally in fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Users preferring an externally mounted system can opt for our EDGE Escort Jamming and Airborne Electronic Attack pod. EDGE performs electronic protection and attack for individual aircraft and formations. Furthermore, it can be used as a signals intelligence gathering system, providing three systems in one.
Our ELT/577 Directional Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM), based on Quantum Cascade Laser advanced technology, equips fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft protecting them against all infrared-guided threats. Another important Elettronica capability is represented by the Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) system, including the Specific Emitter Identification (SEI) function to recognize in a “unique way” the footprint of a transmitter associated to a specific platform.
Beyond airpower, Elettronica is deepening its involvement in the rapidly emerging Space Electronic Warfare domain. Our solutions help protect satellites and users depending on access to space-based services. Moreover, our EMSO expertise is making a major contribution to the fight against COVID-19. Elettronica’s new E4Shield system protects interior spaces by using electromagnetic waves to kill the virus but posing no risk to humans. It a reply to the covid risk inside military platforms and barracks. Please come and visit our stand (1340) to learn more about our EMSO capabilities, products and solutions.
